Pastor and Mrs. Mitchell are both natives of Kingston, Jamaica.  In 1971, Pastor Mitchell's family relocated to New York City.  After graduating from Queens College of the City University of New York with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, he attended Christian Life College in Stockton, California.  Pastor Mitchell graduated in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology and became the Executive Pastor for the 4,000+ member Christian Life Center in Stockton, CA.  Mrs Mitchell attended Delta College in Stockton, CA and is a certified pre-school teacher.  She has taught children for twelve years.  The Mitchell's were married in July 1985 and since that time their ministry has taken them to churches across the United States and Canada.

In February 1996, the Mitchell's came to Reston, Virginia and founded Capital Community Church.  The Church began meeting on Easter Sunday of 1996 with forty people in attendance.  Pastor and Mrs. Mitchell believe that the only reason a church should exist is to introduce you to the message of Jesus Christ, which has the power to make a difference in our lives.
